Living Out Your Faith in Everyday Moments
By Brandy Grillo
Faith is a word heavily used in a believer’s life. According to the Oxford Dictionary, faith is complete trust or confidence in someone or something; a strong belief in God or the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.
Faith appears many times in the Bible, but one of my favorite verses—one that I’ve memorized—is Hebrews 11:1:
“Faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance in what we cannot see.”
In other words, the phrase we often hear: Walk by faith, not by sight. Am I right?
But let’s be real—saying it and doing it are two different things, sis.
In this blog, I want to share some practical ways to live out your faith and give you a bit of my own background story—my first true step of faith and how letting faith take root has shaped my daily walk with God.
My First Real Test of Faith
My first test of faith came in 2020, at the beginning of COVID. At the time, I owned an Infiniti—and just by the name, you know every repair meant cha-ching! It kept breaking down on me, and each time I was told it was a sensor issue. Those tiny sensors ended up costing me over $1,500 in repairs.
Soon after the last sensor was replaced, the car broke down again—this time at work. I hid in a back room and cried. I didn’t have the strength or hope to believe I’d make it through that season. Between car troubles and legal issues, I felt overwhelmed. I was still new in my walk with Jesus, unsure of how to truly pray, ask, or seek Him.
Eventually, I approached a coworker who was a more seasoned believer. As I explained my situation through tears, she listened, then sat me down and said, “You need to have faith that God will provide.” She handed me the address to a Kia dealership and told me, “Don’t put another dime into that car. Drive it to the dealership. Tell them you need a new one. And don’t leave until you get it.”
I looked at her in disbelief. I had never owned a car from a dealership. I grew up with generational beliefs around credit and the hand-me-down culture of used cars. But she was determined to show me that with faith, God can move mountains.
I sat at work, thinking about her words. I had no other option. So when the clock hit 5 p.m., I was forced to turn to faith.
A Slow Drive and a Fast Miracle
My Infiniti couldn’t go faster than 15 mph. It was barely running, but it carried me—slowly—to that dealership. I was met by a typical sales guy and told him, “I don’t know what you can do for me, but I do know I’m not leaving here in that car.”
He smiled and said, “I can help.” He asked questions about my preferences, and I replied, “I can’t afford what I want. I just need a stable vehicle. It’s not about what I want—it’s about what I need.”
As I spoke, my words came from a place of urgency—not driven by desire, but by the weight of necessity.
We test-drove a few cars, and then we came across an SUV that I loved. The outside and inside were exactly what I’d dreamed of. But I was still skeptical. I didn’t want to get my hopes up just to be disappointed.
Y’all, I was struggling to have faith! You hear me?
My mind was flooded with doubt:
“Why am I even here?”
“I can’t afford this car—or that one.”
“This is a waste of time.”
“You’re not worthy.”
“Who do you think you are?”
But then—a miracle happened.
I drove off that lot in a 2018 Kia Sportage, in the color I wanted, with the interior I loved, low mileage, and no down payment required.
And I still have that car today. Because of a sister in Christ’s faith… God moved.
Living Out Faith Daily
My prayer is that we would all embody the same spirit as my sister—ready to step in when someone needs encouragement—and also ready to cultivate that faith for ourselves.
Now that I’ve shared my first experience with real faith, I want to help you not just step out in faith, but live by it every day. Below are some practical ways to walk that out:
Start the Day in Prayer and Scripture
Dedicate the first moments of your day to prayer and reading the Bible.
Reflect on a scripture that aligns with what you might face that day.
Practice Gratitude
Keep a gratitude journal to thank God for His blessings—big and small.
Express gratitude to others to reflect God’s love through appreciation.
Serve Others
Look for small ways to serve: help a neighbor, volunteer, or just listen.
Use your gifts—hospitality, teaching, kindness—to build others up.
Pray Without Ceasing (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
Keep an ongoing dialogue with God throughout your day.
Pray about everything—needs, blessings, and people you encounter.
Celebrate Sabbath Rest
Set aside time weekly to rest and reflect on God’s goodness.
Use it to recharge spiritually and reconnect with Him.
Share Your Faith
Look for natural opportunities to share your testimony.
Let your actions reflect God’s love first, then your words.
Guard Your Heart and Mind (Proverbs 4:23)
Limit media or influences that don’t align with God’s truth.
Fill your mind with worship, podcasts, or scripture meditations.
Walk in Faith During Challenges
Trust God’s plan even when life feels uncertain.
Praise Him in every circumstance—faith isn’t conditional.
Progress, Not Perfection
Living as sisters in Christ means reflecting His love and truth in small, consistent ways. God isn’t looking for perfection. He’s looking for progress.
Living out faith in everyday moments requires intentionality. Start where you are. Be honest with God. Stay connected to community. And remember:
With faith, God still moves.
